RE: Camping with DVR - No satellite dish

The two Series 2 DirecTiVo boxes I had would play back stand-alone. I just had to cancel out of the "searching for signal" sequence. So, try it and see.

RE: Leveling using SCIENCE! (Trigonometry time)

Take a shovel and dig a hole! It Is easier to lower than to raise! Of course if you are on pavement that won't work! I Just use the old try it 1 board at a time method! There is just so much real thinking time wasted while the Beer is getting warm! Your beer is getting warm while you do this time-consuming method.

RE: Leveling using SCIENCE! (Trigonometry time)

HI, OP here! :) Lemme respond... 1. Thanks for those of you who entertained the question. I had just forgotten my trig and needed a reminder. COS(angle) X WheelBase. Yay! \o/ 2. Not sure why this was hard to grasp for some, but I was looking for front back leveling. 3. I'm using my iPhone for a bubble-level, accurate to a tenth of a degree, and for its scientific calculator. thus: 4. *I* will be the one sucking on a tasty beverage whilst watching others use the classic "try it and see" approach. In other words, the point of this exercise was to actually save time: roll up on the right amount of blocks once and be done. :) thanks!

RE: Leveling using SCIENCE! (Trigonometry time)

ummm.... "wheelbase" refers to the horizontal distance from the vertical centerline of the front wheel to the vertical centerline of the back wheel. And the leveling problem you have is that one side of the vehicle is lower than the other. Apples and Oranges, isn't it? What you want to start out with is the "track" (distance between the wheels on the same axle), right? No. My rear wheels are lower than the front at an angle of 2.5 degrees.

Leveling using SCIENCE! (Trigonometry time)

... (Or math, but SCIENCE! sounds cooler.) So, I know the wheelbase of my rig: 208" (This, I presume, is the hypotenuse in my upside-down triangle.) And, my handy little level says I'm 2.5 degrees off level So, did out those moldy old trig synapses and write me a formual. How many inches of block do I need under my lower wheels? :)

RE: Where's my converter? '01 Coachmen Leprechaun 314ss

I found it. Converter is under the cabinetry next to the fridge, rearward of the furnace. What it's doing on the passenger side and nowhere near the breaker board and genny switch I have no idea.

RE: Garmin GPS

I'd point out, regardless of what side of the border you are on, that the basemaps in any GPS are just a starting point. I use my US Garmin Rino in Canada and love it. I have purchased both the City Source DVD and the Canada Topo. Adding detailed map data for where you will be traveling and customizing it for your purposes is key to getting everything out of your device. While you may considre the weak basemaps a ploy to sell more product like the MapSource DVDs (and it partially is) you must also consider that there is just not enough room on any of these devices to put detailed maps for everything into the unit. I'd also add that, in this particular case, that there are differences between CDN and USA models of most GPSs. This isn't marketing, folks; most of it is based upon the law. Know what you are buying before you buy it.

RE: advice for sealing around front window in cab over

Sealing it from the inside just traps the water inside the walls. SCARY. I agree with the replies that suggest you remove the window and reseal it properly.

RE: 11.7 Billion profit

That profit they are showing is not just fuel. It is ALL the cross products they have. Everyone just thinks all they do is fuel. What percentage is that of their operating expenses? Wanna be angry at an industry? How about the drug companies. But feel free to hate the oil companies, too. :)

RE: How's Best Way to Keep Sun Out

I bought a roll of the reflective shielding and put it on the windows that get the most sun. Best thing I've done. Just got a new unit and plan to buy another roll to have a piece for every window.
